Pears transparent soap

Pears is a very famous soap brand made in the UK. It is very well known for its whimsical vintage adverts and the fact that it was the world’s first transparent soap.

In 1958 the first Miss Pears competition was held with £1,000 prize money and the chance to be featured on packaging and promotions.

The text on the back of the packaging reads:

“Preparing to be a beautiful lady begins from childhood with the purity of Pears – the name that has meant luxury in toilet soaps since 1789. Pears is unique, in that it is matured over many months to give it its concentrated quality. Just pure soap. So pure that nothing clouds its amber transparency.
